Barclays maintains an 'Overweight' on Prudential Financial (NYSE: PRU), PT $77.
Barclays analyst says, "Individual Life Insurance Jim Avery. Despite a low interest rate environment, PRU appears confident in its ability to achieve 13%-14% operating ROE in 2013. We estimate PRU could deliver EPS of at approximately $10.00 in 2013 based on its 13%-14% ROE goal. PRU expects to generate strong results in International, Asset Management, and Annuities, deliver accretion from the Star/Edison acquisition, and deploy of excess capital (including share buybacks)."
"Our sense is PRU could likely be designated as a SIFI (as well as MetLife (NYSE: MET), AIG (NYSE: AIG), and perhaps several other large life insurers). For PRU and MET, we anticipate a SIFI designation would not have a meaningful impact on earning power, capital requirements, or share buyback plans."
