Uranium Getting Pummeled as Germany Vows to Eliminate Nuclear Dependence (URRE) (URZ) (URG)

May 31, 2011 12:37 PM EDT
Uranium stocks are getting pummeled Tuesday following news Germany is looking to cease all reliance on nuclear power by 2022.

Investors may be fearful following the announcement -- which stems from the March 11th earthquake in Japan which caused a meltdown at Fukushima -- other countries may try to make the same moves, leaving uranium miners and refiners high-and-dry as demand wanes.

Feeling some pressure this afternoon are:
  • Uranium Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq: URRE), down 7.2 percent;

  • Uranerz Energy Corp. (AMEX: URZ), down 8.2 percent;

  • Denison Mines Corp. (AMEX: DNN), down 2.5 percent;

  • Ur Energy (AMEX: URG), down 10 percent;

  • Uranium Energy Corp. (AMEX: UEC), down 7.9 percent; and

  • Crosshair Exploration & Mining (AMEX: CXZ), down 7.5 percent.
