Craving the Fizz: SodaStream (SODA) Rips on Q1 Results; North American Sales Lead Growth

SodaStream International Ltd. (Nasdaq: SODA) shares are snapping and crackling following strong first-quarter results from the Tel Aviv, Israel-based manufacturer of beverage carbonation-infusing devices and consumables.

Net income in the quarter rose 49.5 percent from €2.041 million to €4.231 million. Adjusted for currency, revs were $6.001 million in the quarter, or $0.31 per diluted share. Excluding Shared-Based Compensation and the discontinued management fees, and EPS was $0.38 on a converted basis.

Revenue jumped 49.5 percent from €30.16 million to €45.10 million. Adjusted for currency, revs were $63.96 million in the quarter.

The analyst consensus was at EPS of $0.15 on revs of $41.54 million.

Though solid growth was reported across all regions, North America sales exploded from $4.045 million to $10.22 million, up over 150 percent.

Additionally, the lion's share of total revs still came from consumables, though the overall percentage dropped from 56.0 percent in the first quarter of last year to 50.2 percent in the reported quarter.

Soda shares are ripping pre-market, up about 8 percent to $47.10.
