Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (BPI) Tops Q1 EPS Views; New Enrollments Up 13%; Guides FY11; Announces $75M Buyback

Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) reported Q1 EPS of $0.92, $0.31 better than the analyst estimate of $0.61. Revenue for the quarter came in at $229.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $216.49 million.

New student enrollments for the first quarter of 2011 gained 13.4 percent to approximately 27,550.

Sees FY2011 EPS of $2.47-$2.57, versus the consensus of $2.26. Sees FY2011 revenue of $886.5-$901.5 million, versus the consensus of $876.21 million.

Bridgepoint Education's Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to $75 million of the Company's outstanding shares of common stock over the next 12 months.
