The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reported a 2.5 sequential and 8.6 percent year-over-year increase in March chip sales on Monday.
Monthly revenue totaled $25.3 billion, while first-quarter chip sales increased 8.6 percent to $75.8 billion.
According to the SIA, "the industry is on track to outpace the growth forecasts of the U.S. economy due to increased consumer and business demand for high-quality electronics products and the pervasive application of integrated circuits throughout most industries."
Semi stocks look mixed on the news; the Semiconductor HOLDRs (NYSE: SMH) about 0.4 percent lower this morning.
