Shares of Carter's (NYSE: CRI) dipped sharply in mid-day trade on a spike in volume following an intraday downgrade from an analyst at BB&T Capital.

The stock was trading down about 2.9 percent prior to the downgrade, however shares are now down around 4.6 percent from Wednesday's closing price.

BB&T lowered its investment rating on Carter's shares from Buy to Hold and also suspended its $32 price target.

Traders in Carter's are responding to Q1 results and guidance from the company earlier.
