Nomura Securities maintains a 'Buy' on Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS).
Nomura analyst, Glenn Schorr, said, "GS reported EPS of $1.56 ($4.38 ex Berkshire preferred repurchase). The headline number came in well above our $1.04 estimate, with solid trading, better than expected Investing & Lending, and some softness in investment banking and asset management. We think the 14.5% core ROE on low leverage (111 bps ROA) and in just an OK environment should give some lift to the stock. While some may question the sustainability of some of the gains in Investing & Lending, and ongoing headline risk related to regulation/litigation gives some pause, we see upside from solid book value growth and the potential catalyst of buybacks once the SIFI buffer is settled."
