Semi Sector Sees Rare Sequential Revenue Decline in Q410 (SMH) - IHS
Semiconductor HOLDRs (NYSE: SMH) is trading lower Friday in midday movement, following a report from IHS (NYSE: IHS) saying semiconductor revenue in Q410 fell 3.7 percent sequentially, which was the first quarter-over-quarter retreat for the sector since the onset of 2009.
Revenue fell from $80.1 million in the third quarter of 2010, to $77.2 billion last quarter. Fourth-quarter 2010 revenues were 11.9 percent than $69 billion reported in Q409.
IHS drew the numbers from 298 semi suppliers.
The Semiconductor HOLDRs ETF is trading 1.6 percent lower this afternoon, and has been hovering in the red all day.
