The video-game retailer is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings of $1.56 per share on sales of $3.71 billion.
In its third-quarter, GameStop slightly topped the Street with earnings of $0.38 per share, a penny better than the analyst estimate. The company reported revenue of $1.90 billion in the quarter, just missing the Street's view of $1.96 billion.
Since the start of the fourth quarter, shares of GameStop are down $1.25 or 5.63 percent. Over the last year the stock is down $1.23 or 5.54 percent.
Data from Bloomberg shows that 12 analysts have a Buy rating on the stock, 5 have a Hold and 1 has a Sell. The average analyst price target on GameStop is $25.90 with a target range of $17 to $32.
Analyst Comments:
Wedbush maintains an Outperform rating and $26 price target on GameStop. The firm expects the company to report revenue of $3.73 billion, comps up 3.6 percent, and EPS of $1.58.
Wedbush also sees conservative guidance coming from GameStop. "Although GameStop should benefit from many core games (first-person shooters, in particular) and Nintendo’s 3DS launch, we do not expect meaningful industry software sales growth until manufacturers cut console prices, likely in June."
Goldman Sachs maintains a Neutral rating and $22 price target on the stock. The firm sees EPS of $1.57 and comps up 3.2 percent.
"The sales numbers should present few surprises given the company already reported sales for November and December, the two most important months of the quarter, and that January NPD data tracked only modestly below the prior two months’ trend."
