Goldman Sachs removed Carnival Corporation (NYSE: CCL) to Buy from its Conviction Buy List Wednesday, but kept a Buy rating and $51 price target on the stock.

The analyst said the Conviction Buy call on Carnival didn't not work as higher fuel cost trumped better than expected demand, minimal supply, expense controls and a dividend.

Goldman remains positive on cruise fundamentals with slowing supply, a shift towards lower cost direct bookings and pent up leisure demand.
