HP (HPQ) Offers New Dividend Goals, Raises Qtr. Dividend by 50% to 12c/Share

Shares of HP (NYSE: HPQ) are trading up nearly 1% in after-hours action as the company today outlined new goals for its future dividend plans.
HP will begin with a 50% increase in its quarterly dividend payment from 8c to 12c per common share. The dividend is payable on April 6 to shareholders of record on March 16, implying today as the ex-dividend date.
With HP shares closing today's session at $41.49, the dividend yield moves from 0.77% to 1.16%.
The company also announced that future dividend increases will determined annually, but that the Board expects to raise the dividend by a double-digit percentage each time.
