FOX Business Network's Charles Gasparino is reporting on Thursday that NASDAQ OMX Group Inc. (NASDAQ: NDAQ) CEO Robert Greifeld is facing "incredible" pressure from shareholders to take action regarding the merger of the NYSE Euronext (NYSE: NYX) and Deutsche Boerse.
Greifeld is being pushed towards taking actions that may include a hostile takeover bid for the NYSE.
"Greifeld is coming to grips with NASDAQ’s competitive disadvantage following this merger. NASDAQ is still talking to the Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE) about doing a joint bid for the New York Stock Exchange but they are once again talking to the CME (NASDAQ: CME)."
Gasparino added that NASDAQ is looking at merging with any of those companies to make a competitive bid for NYSE.
