SIRIUS XM (SIRI) Could See Pressure On News Pandora Will Be Offered In New GM Vehicles

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRI) could be on watch today following news that GM (NYSE: GM) will be offering Pandora internet radio in the 2012 Chevy Volt and Equinox.

When these vehicles go on sale later this year, they will be the first to offer Chevy MyLink. The MyLink service integrates Pandora internet radio using hands-free voice and touch-screen controls via Bluetooth device connectivity.

MyLink also includes a seven-inch, high-resolution, full-color touch screen display that makes media selection easy to navigate.

GM plans to roll out the MyLink system to all of its vehicles over the next 18 months.

SIRIUS XM satellite radio has long been a key product feature in most new vehicles, but with Pandora's free radio services now being offered in new vehicles this could be seen as a competitive threat to SIRIUS.

Pandora recently filed to go public.

Shares of SIRIUS XM last traded at $1.80, down 0.3%.
