Juniper (JNPR) Nears Decade Highs as Cisco (CSCO) Investors 'Switch' Over

Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) shares have taken off today, up about 5.4%, as the company is nearing the highest level its seen since May-June 2001.

Juniper could see some buying today following another Cisco (Nasdaq:
CSCO) earnings flub, as investors are finally realizing that pricing pressure is helping the Sunnyvale, CA-based techie to steal switching market share from the perennial tech favorite.

Volume on the company is nearly 80% above normal this afternoon.

CEO John Chambers said, about the U.S. market, "The challenges at state, local, and eventually federal level in our opinion will worsen over the next several quarters." Comparably, Juniper has expressed a more positive view, their CFO recently saying, "As we enter 2011, our demand indicators are strong, our product portfolio is robust and we are focused on executing to the growing market opportunity ahead of us."
