Gainers
  • SPDR S&P Retail (NYSE: XRT) up 2.23% to $47.16. The Retail ETF is higher today, though mixed January sales numbers have been reported so far.
Both Gap (NYSE: GPS) and Limited (NYSE: LTD) numbers showed an increase in comps amid torrid January weather that pounded the East Cost with one of the snowiest months on record. Both of the retailers increased their outlooks as well.

  • PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) up 0.82% to $22.36. The U.S. dollar is moving north today, following ISM Services number that came in better than the Street, a win for Factory Orders, and jobless claims that dropped month-over-month for the week ended January 29th. Notably, the ISM said that the service sector grew at the fastest pace since August 2005.

  • iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) up 0.89% to $30.61. Amid solid economic data today, markets are still weary of turmoil in Egypt, and the potential impact that it may have on shipping and oil supplies out of the Middle East.

Receders
  • Energy Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLE) down 0.88% to $73.63. Amid Egypt concerns already affecting oil prices, shares are down further as Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS-A) is still waiting to commence drilling in Alaska, and Barclays downgraded Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE: APC) from Overweight to Equalweight, increasing their price target from $75 to $78. RDS is 3.7% lower today, and APC is down 3.3%.

  • United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) down 1.59% to $5.89. Lower amid the EIA reporting a drop in store by 189 billion cubic feet last week. The number met the Dow Jones consensus expectations. Investors/traders may have been looking for more however.

  • Semiconductor HOLDRs (NYSE: SMH) down 0.64% to $35.07. Feeling a little bit of selling pressure today, though no one holding in the ETF is making a significant dive. ON Semi (Nasdaq: ONNN) reported a solid Q410 today, with EPS of $0.22 and revs of $579.2 million both coming in ahead of the consensus. Shares of the company are down 3.1% amid the victory.
