Rare Element (REE) Questioned In Barron's, Sticking to Start Date for Bear Lodge Deposit (MCP)

January 24, 2011 8:33 AM EST
According to a negative article from Barron's on Saturday, Rare Element (AMEX: REE) is sticking to its plan to start producing rare earth minerals at the company's property in the Bear Lodge Mountains in Wyoming.

The property is thought to contain one of the larges rare earth deposits in North America, important now that China has decided to temporarily ban exports of the minerals to Japan.

The news sent shares of Rare Element and Molycorp (NYSE: MCP) surging since last July.

Rare Element also has the interest of investors due to the Sundance Project, gold-exploration effort that the company sees having "excellent potential in multiple targets."

Despite a number of questions, Mark T. Brown, Rare Element CFO said that "Others are saying we could fast track it. Our plan is set for now."

The company has no measurable earnings and sees no revenue. Through last fall the company issued shares as investors exercised options and warrants.

In addition, the company's main office is a 500-square-foot space in Vancouver, that is shares with other businesses, including Pacific Opportunity Capital. Pacific Opportunity offers "financial solutions" and on its website penny stocks are profiled. Pacific Opportunity's President happens to be Rare Element's CFO Mark Brown.
