Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) plans to announce a cloud computing acquisition today, CEO Michael Dell said at an event in Hong Kong today.
Mr. Dell did not give any further details of the acquisition, the report from Reuters said.
Mr. Dell also discussed ramping up its tablet line-up to compete with Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).
"We're going to have a significant number of new tablets" Mr. Dell said.
Dell also indicated that it will focus on developing tablets based on Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows operating system versus Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android system.
Rumored takeover targets for Dell in the cloud computing space include: Compellent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: CML), Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BRCD), Isilon Systems (Nasdaq: ISLN), or CommVault Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CVLT).
Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR) has also been a rumored takeover target.
