October 18, 2010 10:10 AM EDT
Shares of Seagate Technology PLC (NYSE: STX) are continuing higher today, following last Friday's nice run, on speculation of a private equity acquisition of the company. Shares are up 3.8% in mid-morning trading to just over $16 per share.

Late last week, STX announced that they have received preliminary interest in transaction to go private. No companies have been named yet, but speculation surrounds KKR and TPG making a run for it.

Analysts all around weighed-in with their opinion of pricing for a takeover, with most coming in the range of $15 - $16 per share for the company. Barron's made a solid argument for a $25 per share price on Seagate.

The company has traded as high as $21.58 in early March this year, but hadn't gotten above $16 per share since late May, and fell further following a fourth quarter earnings report that WDC), which saw a pop last week from the STX rumors, is trading lower today, down about 1.6%.
