Shares of Motorola (NYSE: MOT) are getting a boost today ahead of tomorrow's expected release of the Droid X phone on the Verizon (NYSE: VZ) network. With under three hours left in today's trading session, Motorola shares are up 3.6% to $7.47.
An analyst upgrade at MKM Partners is adding to upside today. The firm now rates Motorola a Neutral, up from Sell previously.
MKM argues that given recent issues with Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) new iPhone and supply problems at HTC, the new Droid X phone could fill a void and effectively boost sales at Motorola.
The Droid X will go on sale tomorrow at Verizon stores or on the company's website, with an expected price at around $199 if the user already has a Verizon contract.
Motorola, Inc. offers technologies, products, and services for mobile communications worldwide.
