Next week kicks off the earnings season for the first quarter of 2010. The traditional name to start it off is Alcoa (NYSE: AA), which is expected to report their Q110 after the market closes on Monday, April 12, 2010. Shares of the aluminum manufacturer are trading behind the market today, down about 3.56% to $14.34.
While Alcoa has "beat" the consensus over the past couple of quarters, the company has not been a great tell for the direction of the entire earnings season.
Many analysts are expecting another strong earnings season this quarter, but are worried that much of the good news is priced in.
Bank stock earnings, which kick off late in the week and into the next week, will be highly followed. This will be the quarter that the laggard-banks like Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) and Citigroup (NYSE: C) are expected to hit profitability.
