Wells Fargo (WFC) Moves Higher In the Face of an Expected Capital Raise

December 14, 2009 3:07 PM EST

After trading lower earlier, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) is now solidly in the green. Shares are up about 1% despite expectations of an imminent $25 billion capital raise to payback TARP.

Citigroup (NYSE: C) announced its TARP repayment earlier today, which is expected to be 10-15% dilutive, leaving Wells as the lone mega-bank holdout.

Even though Well Fargo is expected to payback TARP shortly, it is quite possible that they don't pay it back immediately and instead pay it back out of earnings over time.
