Normally released on the first Thursday of each month, retailers issued their monthly sales figures today, the second Thursday in September, as the first Thursday was actually the 1st of the month -- just a little too soon to collect last month's data. - Target (NYSE: TGT) - same store sales down 1.7%, guided Q3 above the Street.
- JCPenney (NYSE: JCP) - comps down 1.4%, raises Q3 outlook.
- Kohl's (NYSE: KSS) - comps up 5.5% guides Q3 higher.
- Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN) - comps down 2.4%
