Aloca (AA) Set to Kick-Off Q2 Earnings Season... What Kind of Tone Will Be Set?

July 8, 2009 3:38 PM EDT
Alcoa (NYSE: AA) will "officially" kick-off the Q2 earnings season after the close today, giving investors a glimpse into what could be in store for other big name companies which will report over the next month or two. While Alcoa has become a "serial over-promise, underperform" company, traders love to use this first report of the season to try to gauge just what the quarter will look like.

Shares of Alcoa are currently trading modestly higher ahead of the results. The stock most recently traded at $9.44, up 0.32% from yesterday's close.

The Street is looking for Aloca to report a Q2 loss of $0.38 on sales of $3.93 billion. According to our earnings records, Alcoa usually reports the results around 4:10pm ET, but not later than 4:30.
