There is a big battle brewing between the bulls and the bears in Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: ONXX). Yesterday, the company, with their partner Bayer (NYSE: BAY), announced that the FDA approved their advanced kidney cancer treatment Nexavar. In the bull camp, the approval came before the FDA's PDUFA date of Jan 11, 2006 and the label was much broader than anticipated. Some analysts expect substantial penetration in the RCC market. In the bear camp, Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has a competing drug, Sutent which is expected to gain FDA approval shortly.
