State Street (STT) Shares In Free-Fall On Short-Term Credit Market Fears

State Street (NYSE: STT) is under heavy pressure today on fears the freezing up of the short-term credit market will have a negative impact on the company's ability to roll over commercial paper and its exposure to money market funds.

Shares of State Street are currently down 22% to $50.99, a new 52-week low.

At least two Wall Street analyst have come out in defense of the company, calling the sell-off overdone.
