Merrill Lynch analyst Guy Moszkowski downgraded Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) from Buy to Underperform, Lehman Brothers (NYSE: LEH) from Neutral to Underperform and Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) from Buy to Neutral. Moszkowski said conditions have deteriorated significantly from July.

Moszkowski lowered Q3 EPS estimates on Goldman from $2.80 to $2.04, saying the company is likely to post its lowest return on equity since going public in 1999. Moszkowski cut Lehmans' Q3 loss estimates from $1.59 per share to $3.94. He cut Q3 estimates on Morgan Stanley from $1.07 to $0.85.
