NutriSystem (NTRI) Sinks On Horrible Guidance

NutriSystem (Nasdaq: NTRI) is under heavy pressure after-hours (-25%), following solid Q4 results but horrible guidance.

NutriSystem reported Q4 EPS of $0.33, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.29. Revenues for the quarter were $137.2 million, versus the consensus of $130.53 million.

NutriSystem sees Q1 revenues of $200-$210 million, versus the consensus of $250.6 million.

NutriSystem FY08 revenues are expected to be $690-$710 million, versus the consensus of $825 million.

Commenting on the guidance, CEO Michael J. Hagan said, "The environment grew more challenging in January 2008 and we believe the economy is playing a role in consumer discretionary items such as weight loss programs. Given that uncertainty, we believe it's prudent to be cautious with our outlook at this time."
