EXACT Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: EXAS) 27% HIGHER; announced after the close that the European Patent Office has upheld a patent owned by the Company pertaining to aspects of its DNA technologies. The decision by the EPO's Opposition Division was in response to a challenge by a major diagnostics company seeking to invalidate the patent claims.
BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (Nasdaq: BMRN) 21% HIGHER; Plenty of brokers talking up the stock after the company announced FDA approval of Kuvan.
Drugstore.com Inc. (Nasdaq: DSCM) 12% HIGHER; Banc of America Initiates Coverage on drugstore.com (DSCM) with a Buy
Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL) 11% LOWER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.06, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.04. Revenues for the quarter were $245 million, versus the consensus of $242.21 million. Novell issues guidance below full year 2008 is $920-$945 million, consensus is $982 million.
Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC) 8% LOWER; said revenue is now expected to be approximately $53 million to $54 million. This is a revision from previous guidance of $57 million to $59 million. The Wall Street consensus is $58.1 million.
Exelixis Inc. (NASDAQ: EXEL) 8% HIGHER; GlaxoSmithKline exercised its option to exclusively license XL880 for further development and commercialization.
Mercadolibre, Inc. (NASDAQ: MELI) 8% HIGHER; Cramer highlights on Mad Money
CDC Corp. (Nasdaq: CHINA) 7% LOWER; reports Q3 adj EPS of $0.04, versus the consensus of $0.08. Revenues rose 27% to $99.6 million, versus the consensus of $100.7 million. CDC Corp. said it continues to work with the SEC on finalizing its planned IPO of CDC Software. However, given time constraints, the IPO will not be completed by year end 2007 and may occur in the first half of 2008, depending on many factors including SEC approval, market conditions and others.
The Black & Decker Corporation (NYSE: BDK) 7% LOWER; is revising its earnings guidance for the fourth quarter and full year 2007 due to three separate developments: recall OF certain DEWALT(R) XRP(TM) cordless; business conditions in North America have been worse than the Corporation had anticipate; Corporation and the United States government have reached a settlement agreement on outstanding income tax litigation. Black & Decker sees Q4 EPS of $1.03 and FY EPS of $6.00, versus the consensus of $1.60 and $6.55, respectively.
Quiksilver (NYSE: ZQK) 7% LOWER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.51, 1 cent worse than the analyst estimate of $0.52. Revenues for the quarter were $779.2 million, versus the consensus of $782.02 million. The Company expects FY08 EPS of $0.70, versus the consensus of $0.84. FY08 revenues are expected to be about $2.7 billion, versus the consensus of $2.74 billion.
Qwest Communications (NYSE: Q) 6% HIGHER; said its board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.08 per share. The quarterly dividend is payable on Feb. 21, 2008, to all stockholders of record at the close of business on Feb. 1, 2008.
China BAK Battery Inc. (Nasdaq: CBAK) 5% HIGHER; reported a Q4 loss of $0.02, in-line with the analyst estimate of ($0.02). Revenues for the quarter were $43.8 million, versus the consensus of $43.80 million. The Company sees FY08 revenues of about $210 million, versus the consensus of $202 million.
JA Solar (Nasdaq: JASO) 4.8% HIGHER; Piper Jaffray raises its price target on JA Solar from $70 to $100 and maintains a Buy rating. The firm also added JA Solar to its "Alpha List".
Vulcan Materials (NYSE: VMC) 3% LOWER; Banc of America Initiates Coverage on Vulcan Materials (VMC) with a Sell
OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: OSIP) 2.5% HIGHER; Announces Launch of Tarceva in Japan
McClatchy Co. (NYSE: MNI) 2.5% LOWER; Gives back some of the large gains made in the last few minues of trading which was related to comments from a money manager who said the family will likely takeover the company.
Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) 1.3% LOWER; Brings SIV on balance sheet. Moody's downgrade
