BofA Securities analyst Ronald Epstein lowered the price target on Boeing (NYSE: BA) to $180.00 (from $220.00) noting that the company is ceding marketshare to Airbus with Ordershare down to 13%.
The analyst reiterated a Neutral rating, stating "In the next five years, Boeing faces headwinds. Boeing needs to overcome or at least stem the market share loss in the large narrowbody market (Boeing order market share of 13% for 737 MAX 9/10 vs. Airbus 87% for the A321neo) as well as managing production issues on the 787 and the 777X. Boeing would need to decide if it wants to build the 7M7 or cede significant market share to Airbus. At Airbus, they have the catbird seat and can watch their competitor and react appropriately. The clear focus of management is ramping production given the strong backlog. Airbus will also benefit from growing EU defense budgets mid-term".
