Jefferies analyst Laurence Alexander reiterated a Buy rating and $49.00 price target on Huntsman (NYSE: HUN) on the belief that overall order trends likely remained intact in Q1 and an accelerated buyback program should offset demand risks in 2H22.
The analyst stated "Inflationary pressures on consumers and geopolitical concerns could slow demand trends by the end of the year, but the impact should be mitigated by tight S/D balances and a lack of significant new capacity additions in polyurethanes, maleic anhydride and epoxies. We estimate a ~$0.66 cumulative EPS tailwind over the next 2 years with ample balance sheet flexibility for further buybacks and bolt-on M&A."
