Citi analyst Joel Beatty reiterated a Buy rating and $12.00 price target on Amarin Corporation (NASDAQ: AMRN), saying Friday's GSK versus Teva 'skinny label' appeals court decision appears to have a "meaningfully favorable readthrough" for Amarin.
Beatty commented, "On Friday, a U.S. appeals court ruled that Teva infringed on GSK’s carvedilol heart failure patent, despite Teva’s generic carvedilol launching with a ‘skinny label’ that ‘carved out’ the heart failure indication. We believe this ruling could potentially benefit AMRN by making potential generic Vascepa competitors 1) more hesitant to launch a generic competitor, 2) more open to a settlement with AMRN, and 3) more likely to be assessed large and meaningful damages if a generic Vascepa is launched."
