Verso Paper (VRS) Tops Q4 EPS by 73c, Revenues Miss; Offers Q1 Revenue Guidance Below Consensus

Verso Paper (NYSE: VRS) reported Q4 EPS of $2.44, $0.73 better than the analyst estimate of $1.71. Revenue for the quarter came in at $639 million versus the consensus estimate of $712.83 million.
- Net sales up $56 million, or 9%, from fourth quarter 2017.
- Net income of $86 million, up 139% from fourth quarter 2017; $2.44 per diluted share; $22 million special item.
- Adjusted EBITDA of $96 million, up 48% versus fourth quarter 2017.
- No debt outstanding, $26 million of cash and cash equivalents at December 31, 2018.
GUIDANCE:
Verso Paper sees Q1 2019 revenue of $625-640 million, versus the consensus of $718.61 million.
