Rosenblatt analyst, Ryan Koontz, reiterated his Buy rating on shares of Broadcom (NASDAQ: BRCM) and expects early adoption of intra-data center 400Gbps (400G) optical technology to commence in 2H19, led by Google and Amazon. The analyst believes GOOGL is most aggressively driving the broad networking ecosystem of optical suppliers to gear up for a strong ramp as quickly in 2019 as possible. His research shows initial orders from GOOGL for 400G modules have been placed with Innolight, its primary module supplier and that availability of the Broadcom Tomahawk3 switch fabric is another critical element in the 400G transition.

The analyst stated "Our research indicates that the Tomahawk3 (12.8 Tbps fabric). has recently seen several months delay due to a full ASIC re-spin and now slated to begin production in 1Q19, likely aligned with initial testing of Innolight 400G modules".
