Washington Federal (WAFD) Raises Quarterly Dividend 13.3% to $0.17; Increases Buyback by 5M Shares

Washington Federal (NASDAQ: WAFD) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.17 per share, or $0.68 annualized. This is a 13.3% increase from the prior dividend of $0.15.

The dividend will be payable on February 23, 2018, to stockholders of record on February 9, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of February 8, 2018.

The annual yield on the dividend is 1.9 percent.

The Board also increased the number of shares authorized for repurchase by 5 million, bringing the currently authorized amount up to 5.3 million shares. Over the last three fiscal years, the Company has repurchased 13.1 million shares at a weighted average price of $24.41. This represents 13.4% of the shares outstanding on October 1, 2014.

President and Chief Executive Officer, Brent J. Beardall commented, “The Board’s actions today reflect its confidence in Washington Federal’s future.”
