Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 08/09: (PHM) (PPHM) (AEP) High; (THS) (SGNT) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • PulteGroup, Inc. (NYSE: PHM) high of $12.92. Pulte got superboosted today as JPMorgan rasied its rating to Overweight from a prior Neutral rating.

    JPMorgan got bullish on homebuilders overall, lifting the segment higher Thursday. Click here for more.

  • Peregrine Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: PPHM) high of $2.43. Peregrine moving strong above the $2 price level. The pharma announced it regained Nasdaq compliance on July 30th.

  • American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) high of $$43.96. American Electric received a positive order from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on the company's modified Electric Security Plan (ESP), though it still has some issues. Shares were upgraded at ISI and BofA/Merrill Lynch today.

  • Brinker International (NYSE: EAT) high of $35.18. Brinker reported a three cent Q2 EPS beat earlier and also sees fiscal 2013 EPS of $2.30 - $2.45, versus consensus views of $2.28. Comparable sales are expected to increase two to three percent for the year.
52-Week Low:
  • Treehouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS) low of $46.14. Treehouse beat Q2 EPS views, but guided 2012 EPS below expectations. The stock was downgraded at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey to Neutral as well.

  • Sagent Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: SGNT) low of $13.25. Sagent posted a narrower than expected Q2 loss of 17 cents per share, but cut sales and profit expectations for 2012. Shares fell over 25 percent on the session.
