US judge dismisses Exxon case against activist investor over proxy filing Jun 17, 2024 06:57PM

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Monday dismissed a lawsuit Exxon Mobil had filed against activist group Arjuna Capital after the group had agreed not to pursue future proxy filings at the company's annual meetings.

The largest U.S. oil company's lawsuit had raised alarm among activists and public pension investors who argued it would muzzle debate among shareholders and public companies.

US suspends avocado imports from Mexican state due to security incident, local media says Jun 17, 2024 06:46PM

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The U.S. government temporarily suspended avocado imports from Mexico's top-producing Michoacan state beginning last Saturday due to a security incident involving U.S. inspectors, according to a report by Mexican newspaper El Universal published on Monday.

Philip Morris suspends nationwide sales on Zyn.com after D.C. subpoena Jun 17, 2024 06:44PM

(Reuters) - Tobacco giant Philip Morris International said on Monday that it would suspend online sales on Swedish Match North America's ZYN.com nationwide as the Zyn nicotine pouch maker responds to a subpoena from the District of Columbia (D.C.).

Putin vows trade, security agreements with North Korea ahead of visit Jun 17, 2024 06:12PM

Brazil's Lula demands faster action against organized crime in the Amazon Jun 17, 2024 06:08PM

BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Monday urged his government to speed up actions in the Amazon to combat organized crime that has contributed to destruction of the world's largest tropical rainforest.

Lula complained that it had taken a year for a security plan for the Amazon, known as AMAS, to get off the ground, and said there was still much to be done to set up an international police center in Manaus.
