Ukraine to receive F-16s 'very soon' but much aid arriving late, defence minister says May 28, 2024 08:33AM

KYIV (Reuters) - Ukraine will receive its first supplies of F-16 fighter jets "very soon", but around half of its desperately needed foreign military aid is arriving late, Kyiv's defence minister has said.

Rustem Umerov, 42, told Reuters in an interview in Kyiv late on Monday that Russia was deploying more manpower and equipment to the front, more than 27 months after its full-scale invasion.

BYD launches new hybrid vehicle tech with lower fuel consumption May 28, 2024 08:30AM

SHANGHAI (Reuters) -China's BYD on Tuesday launched its latest generation of a plug-in hybrid technology that achieves a record low fuel consumption of 2.9 litres per 100 km (62.1 miles) on depleted batteries.

BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu unveiled the technology while speaking at an event in Xian, the capital of Shaanxi province, the site of the company's first automaking factory after it acquired Qinchuan Automobile Co in 2003.

Adam Neumann ends bid to buy WeWork, NYT Dealbook reports May 28, 2024 08:29AM

(Reuters) - WeWork founder and former CEO Adam Neumann has ended his bid to acquire the bankrupt shared office space provider, the New York Times Dealbook reported on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, Reuters reported that Neumann's new real estate venture, Flow Global, had submitted a bid of more than $500 million to take over WeWork and its assets.

China Evergrande's liquidators seek investors for restructuring May 28, 2024 08:22AM

(Reuters) - Property firm China Evergrande Group said on Tuesday its liquidators are inviting potential investors to pursue a restructuring in the company.

Earlier this year, China Evergrande, the world's most indebted property developer, was ordered to be liquidated after it was unable to offer a concrete restructuring plan.

This was more than two years after it defaulted on its offshore debt and followed several court hearings.

Syria, donors must step up to help refugees return, UN refugee chief says May 28, 2024 08:15AM

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The Syrian government and international aid donors must both do more if they want millions of Syrians forced to flee the country by war to return home, the U.N.'s refugee chief has said.

Filippo Grandi, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, said the Gaza war and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict showed what happens if refugee questions are left unaddressed.
