PARIS (Reuters) - British paratroopers recreating an airdrop behind German defences to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day were met by French customs officials at a makeshift border checkpost.
Moments after the paratroopers had hit the ground and gathered up their chutes, they formed an orderly queue and handed over their passports for inspection by waiting French customs officials in a Normandy field.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Mercedes Benz CEO Ola Kaellenius expects a decision on EU's import tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles soon, he said at an industry conference on Thursday.
"A decision is imminent," the German luxury carmaker's chief executive told the CAR Symposium 2024.
The decision was initially due this week but was postponed until after next week's election in the bloc.

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia's parliament on Thursday approved a proposal to accept a South Korean donation of a corvette for its navy, despite concern from its defence committee that the ageing vessel needs about $85 million worth of maintenance.

(Reuters) - Novak Djokovic underwent surgery on his knee, the world number one said on Thursday, after he was forced to pull out of the French Open with an injury that could threaten his Wimbledon and Olympic chances.
The injury, sustained in his fourth-round win over Francisco Cerundolo, ended the Serb's quest to win a record-extending 25th Grand Slam trophy and will result in him losing his top ranking to Italian Jannik Sinner on Monday.
