(Reuters) - German exports rose by 1.6% in April compared with the previous month, the second straight month of gains, data from the federal statistics office showed on Friday.
The result compared with a forecast 1.1% increase in a Reuters poll.
The monthly gains were driven by exports to China, up 0.8% to 8.4 billion euros ($9.15 billion), and the United Kingdom, up 15.4% to 7.4 billion euros.

(Reuters) - Chinese battery companies CATL and Gotion High Tech should be added immediately to an import ban list, a group of Republican lawmakers said, alleging their supply chains use forced labor, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
The lawmakers called for CATL and Gotion, which have ties to Ford and Volkswagen, to be added to what is known as the entity list under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, the report said.

KYIV (Reuters) - Ukrainian air force shot down all five missiles and 48 out of 53 drones over nine regions during Russia's overnight attack, Ukrainian military said on Friday.
The Russian forces attacked Kyiv region with drones and Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles, causing a fire at one of the industrial facilities, according to the governor. Emergency services worked to put out the fire on Friday morning with no casualties reported.
