TOKYO (Reuters) - The dollar traded near a one-month low versus the euro on Wednesday amid lower Treasury yields as traders braced for a key U.S. inflation report later in the day that could dictate the path of Federal Reserve policy.
The yen languished near a two-week low, as a still-gaping yield gap between local bonds and U.S. peers continued to encourage selling of the Japanese currency.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. House Republican Carol Miller in a Tuesday primary defeated a challenger who had pleaded guilty to a role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, Edison Research projected.
The seat is not considered competitive in the Nov. 5 general election, meaning Miller will likely remain in Congress next year.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - The chief executive of Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras offered to step down on Tuesday, the company said, sending shares sliding as investors braced for the possibility of more political interference at the firm.
Chief Executive Jean Paul Prates asked the Petrobras board to meet and discuss an early end to his term, the company said in a late Tuesday filing.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Two Brazilian states have asked a court to more than double the amount that miners Vale and BHP, plus a jointly owned tie-up, must pay in damages for a 2015 deadly tailings dam failure, according to a legal document seen by Reuters on Tuesday.
