(Reuters) - Rental car firm Hertz is weighing a sale of at least $700 million in secured debt and a convertible notes offering, as it looks to shore up its balance sheet, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Shares of the company plunged as much as 12.6% to a record low of $3.47 after the report and closed down about 5%.

Hertz did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

(Reuters) - The chair and vice chair of the Federal Election Commission are split over a proposal by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to require disclosure of content generated by artificial intelligence (AI) in political ads on radio and TV, according to letters seen by Reuters.

(Reuters) - Investment banking firm Piper Sandler said on Thursday, it had agreed to buy smaller rival Aviditi Advisors, helping it expand in the lucrative market for private equity deals.

The firm will be housed within Piper Sandler's investment banking platform, Piper said, without disclosing the financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close towards the latter half of the third quarter.
