BEIJING (Reuters) - Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp reported first-quarter net income of $71.79 million on Thursday, missing analysts' expectations.

Unaudited profit attributable to owners of China's largest chip foundry fell to $71.79 million from $231.1 million a year earlier and below the $80.49 million expected by analysts polled by LSEG.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. auto safety agency said on Thursday it has "significant safety concerns" over Ford Motor's recall of more than 42,000 SUVs over concerns fuel leaks could lead to an engine fire.

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (Reuters) - Souad Zohair, 73, has been kept alive by kidney dialysis three days a week at a hospital in Rafah, but that's shut now by Israel's latest offensive. Her daughter brought her up the dangerous coastal road to the last hospital left in the Gaza Strip that still has functioning dialysis machines.
