LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's once towering inflation rate looks set to fall close to the Bank of England's 2% target on Wednesday, but it may be other figures in the data that influence the BoE's decision on when to cut interest rates for the first time since 2020.
Much of the drop in headline consumer price inflation - from a peak of 11.1% a year and a half ago - is due to falling energy prices which are beyond the BoE's control.

ABU DHABI (Reuters) - France is open to the United Arab Emirates investing in its nuclear energy industry, its finance minister said on Tuesday ahead of discussions in the Gulf state with UAE officials.

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Eli Lilly said on Tuesday its diabetes drug tirzepatide has received approval from Chinese regulators, setting up intensifying competition with its Danish rival Novo Nordisk in the key Asian market.

DUBAI (Reuters) -Syria's first lady, Asma al-Assad, has been diagnosed with leukemia, the Syrian presidency said on Tuesday, almost five years after she announced she had fully recovered from breast cancer.
The statement said Asma, 48, would undergo a special treatment protocol that would require her to isolate, and that she would step away from public engagements as a result.
