Yemen's Houthis say they downed US drone over al-Bayda province May 21, 2024 03:26AM

DUBAI (Reuters) - Yemen's Houthis downed a U.S. MQ9 drone over al-Bayda province in southern Yemen, the Iran-aligned group's military spokesperson said in a televised statement on Tuesday.

Yahya Saree said the drone was targeted with a locally made surface-to-air missile and that videos to support the claim would be released.

The Houthis said last Friday they downed another U.S. MQ9 drone over the southeastern province of Maareb.

European stocks dip as rate uncertainty weighs May 21, 2024 03:21AM

(Reuters) - European stocks inched lower on Tuesday, following losses in Asian equities as U.S. Federal Reserve officials tempered investor enthusiasm about potential interest rate cuts as they called for policy caution.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index slipped 0.3% by 0710 GMT, with gains in healthcare stocks more than offset by losses in banks and utilities.

Vietnam lawmakers vote to dismiss police minister, clearing way for his presidency May 21, 2024 03:16AM

HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnam's National Assembly said on Tuesday it will vote to dismiss To Lam from the post of Minister of Public Security, paving the way for him to be elected president in a later house vote.

To Lam, 66, was nominated last week by a top committee of the ruling Communist Party to become president, one of the top four posts in Vietnam's leadership. The assembly will vote on his candidacy as president on Wednesday.

IBM makes more AI models open source and lands Saudi Arabia deal May 21, 2024 03:04AM
