LONDON (Reuters) - The judge in the trial of two leading Russian theatre figures accused of "justifying terrorism" approved a request from prosecutors on Thursday to ban journalists and members of the public from attending the remainder of the case.

(Reuters) - An estimated 756,000 people in Sudan could face catastrophic food shortages by September, according to a preliminary projection used by United Nations agencies and aid groups to determine whether to officially declare a famine.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Air raid sirens sounded across cities in northern Israel on Thursday and about 40 rockets had been fired from Lebanon in the afternoon, Israel's military said.
State broadcaster Kan aired footage of numerous mid-air interceptions of rockets above Israeli towns, including in Safed, some 12 km (7.5 miles) from the border.

(Reuters) - Broadcom surged more than 13% on Thursday as its upbeat annual forecast highlighted an insatiable demand for chips used in powering AI-focused technology, while its announcement of a stock split added to the euphoria.
The rising adoption of generative AI has been driving demand for companies such as Broadcom that provide chips and networking tools to support these intensive applications.
