BRUSSELS, Feb ⁠9 (Reuters) - ⁠Meta ‍Platforms on Monday criticised EU ‍regulators after they charged the ​U.S. tech giant with ​breaching antitrust rules and threaten to halt its block on AI ​rivals on its messaging service WhatsApp.

Feb 9 (Reuters) - U.S. ⁠equity markets are ⁠set ‍for a sharp rebound in IPOs in 2026, Goldman Sachs analysts said, forecasting proceeds quadrupling to a record $160 billion as marquee names ‍such as SpaceX, OpenAI and Anthropic edge closer to public listings.

Italy's Alpine rescuers urge caution after string of avalanche deaths Feb 9, 2026 04:17AM

MILAN, Feb 9 (Reuters) - ⁠Italy's ⁠Alpine ‍rescue service on Monday urged "maximum caution" after avalanches claimed 11 lives ‍in seven days, as exceptionally unstable ​snow conditions threaten large parts of the Alps.

The ​latest victim was a 70-year-old hiker, who was found dead overnight in the Veneto region of ​the country, which is hosting the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in the ​Alps from February 6-22.

EU threatens Meta with interim measure for blocking AI rivals from WhatsApp Feb 9, 2026 04:04AM

BRUSSELS, Feb ⁠9 (Reuters) - EU ⁠competition ‍regulators on Monday charged Meta Platforms with breaching ‍antitrust rules by blocking artificial intelligence ​rivals from its messaging service WhatsApp ​and threatened to impose interim measures against the U.S. tech giant.

The move by the ​European Commission came after Meta implemented its policy on January ​15 allowing only its AI assistant Meta AI ‌on WhatsApp.
