Fed's Harker: one interest rate cut this year my base case Jun 17, 2024 01:05PM

(Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Reserve would be able to cut its benchmark interest rate once this year, Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker said on Monday, if his economic forecast plays out.

Accused lookout in gangster 'Whitey' Bulger's killing avoids further prison Jun 17, 2024 12:58PM

(Reuters) - A man accused of acting as a lookout while two fellow inmates at a federal prison killed the notorious Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger in his cell in 2018 was set to be released from custody after a judge on Monday sentenced him to time served.

Canada holds off on sending military trainers back to Ukraine Jun 17, 2024 12:56PM

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada does not think the time is right to send military trainers back to Ukraine, given hesitation among NATO allies about such a step, Defence Minister Bill Blair said on Monday.

Blair spoke to reporters after attending a NATO summit which agreed the alliance would assume a greater role in coordinating arms supplies to Ukraine.

CFTC orders Trafigura to pay $55 million over fraud Jun 17, 2024 12:54PM

(Reuters) - The Commodity Futures Trading Commission said on Monday it was ordering global commodities trader Trafigura to pay $55 million over fraud, manipulation and impeding communications with the government agency.
