NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (Reuters) - Dallas Federal Reserve President Lorie Logan on Friday said it's not clear if monetary policy is tight enough to bring inflation down to the U.S. central bank's 2% goal, and it is too soon to be cutting interest rates.

US consumer sentiment slides to six-month low in May May 10, 2024 10:18AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. consumer sentiment sagged to a six-month low in May amid growing anxiety about inflation, unemployment and interest rates, a survey showed on Friday.

The University of Michigan's preliminary reading on the overall index of consumer sentiment came in at 67.4 this month, compared to a final reading of 77.2 in April. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a preliminary reading of 76.0.

US equity funds gain weekly inflows amid renewed hopes of rate cut May 10, 2024 10:14AM

(Reuters) - U.S. equity funds registered their first weekly inflow in six weeks in the seven days to May 8 thanks to a softer than anticipated payrolls report that revived hopes that the Federal Reserve would trim interest rates this year.

Investors acquired a net $1.14 billion worth of U.S. equity funds during the week, marking their first weekly net purchase since March 27, data from LSEG showed.

Ukraine to get its first F-16 jets in June-July, says Kyiv military source May 10, 2024 10:02AM

KYIV (Reuters) - Kyiv expects to receive its first F-16 fighter jets from its Western allies in June-July, a high-ranking Ukrainian military source said on Friday.

Ukraine has sought U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets to help it counter Russia's air superiority for more than two years of war. The source did not say which country would supply the jets.
