Ukraine returns 13 children from Russia, occupied territories May 23, 2024 12:09PM

(Reuters) - Thirteen Ukrainian children returned on Thursday to their homeland from Russia and Moscow-occupied territories of Ukraine with the cooperation of Qatar, officials in Kyiv said.

"The children have already been met in their homeland," Andriy Yermak, president's chief of staff, said on Telegram.

Moscow handed over six children, aged between 6 and 17, Russia's TASS news agency reported on Wednesday.

Bahraini King says looking forward to improved relations with Iran May 23, 2024 11:53AM

DUBAI (Reuters) - Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said on Thursday in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that there is no reason to postpone the resumption of diplomatic relations between the kingdom and Iran, state news agency reported.

King Hamad added that the kingdom is looking forward to improve its relations with Iran.

South Africa's Zuma to 'fight for rights' after election disqualification May 23, 2024 11:52AM

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's former president Jacob Zuma said he would fight for his rights in a video shared on social media by his political party on Thursday, after the constitutional court barred him from running for parliament in this month's election.

Bank of Israel rate cuts seen on hold next week, possibly for all of 2024: Reuters poll May 23, 2024 11:51AM

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The Bank of Israel (BOI) will leave short-term interest rates next week for a third straight meeting and further rate reductions the rest of 2024 are in jeopardy due to re-emerging inflation pressures, a Reuters poll forecast.

All 15 economists polled said they expect the central bank to hold its benchmark rate at 4.5% when the decision is announced on Monday at 4 p.m. (1300 GMT).
