(Reuters) - Oklahoma's attorney general said he is firing the outside legal team hired to defend a state law prohibiting state pension systems from contracting with companies that limit investment in the oil and gas industry, days after a judge temporarily blocked the statute's enforcement.

Greek court sentences former official at Turkish consulate to prison on spying charges May 10, 2024 01:16PM

ATHENS (Reuters) - A Greek appeals court has sentenced a man who worked for a Turkish consulate to five years in prison on spying charges, legal sources said on Friday, in a case that had strained relations between the NATO allies.

The man, a Greek national employed with the Turkish consulate on the island of Rhodes, was arrested in 2020.

Sixty injured in Buenos Aires train collision May 10, 2024 12:59PM

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - At least 60 people were injured on Friday when a seven-car passenger train collided with a locomotive and an empty train car in Buenos Aires, local authorities said, without giving details of how serious the injuries were.

Firefighters, police and ambulances were at the scene, helping evacuate people and take the injured to hospitals.

Quant investing pioneer Jim Simons dies at 86 May 10, 2024 12:56PM

(Reuters) -Jim Simons, the math professor turned financier who helped popularize quantitative investing, has died aged 86, the Simons Foundation said on Friday.

Simons in 1978 founded what would become the hedge fund Renaissance Technologies. Based in New York, the firm employs mathematical and statistical methods in the design and execution of its investment programs, it says on its website.
